Certiport and CompTIA Announce Strategic Partnership
Landmark collaboration brings top global digital literacy leaders together to deliver computer hardware assessments to thousands of academic institutions worldwide
CHICAGO (Colloquium 2010) – April 8, 2010
Certiport, the leading provider of test delivery services for the global workforce and academic markets, today announced a bold, strategic partnership with CompTIA, the leading provider of vendor neutral skills certifications and certificates for the world's information technology (IT) workforce.
The partnership provides the execution capabilities required to aggressively advance delivery of the CompTIA Strata™ IT Fundamentals test through Certiport's network of more than 10,000 testing centers in 142 countries worldwide.
By combining the strength of the CompTIA brand with Certiport's expansive distribution network, experienced sales and marketing teams, both organizations are positioned to transform the lives of individuals, students and the increasing number of IT professionals.
"This is a game changer for Certiport, our partners and our customers," said Ray Kelly, chief executive officer, Certiport. "As leaders in this space, Certiport and CompTIA have a strong commitment to provide individuals with the information and digital skills necessary to thrive in the 21st Century. This groundbreaking partnership will ensure that thousands of academic institutions can offer these foundational skills to students worldwide."
"For years, both Certiport and CompTIA have worked in parallel in the IT careers industry," said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. "By leveraging the unique capabilities of each organization, we're better able to deliver solutions to benefit students looking forward to careers in IT, individuals transitioning to our industry from other careers and organizations seeking to upgrade the skill sets of their employees."
Expanded Opportunities for Certiport and CompTIA
This partnership will further augment Certiport's addressable market and growth potential, broadening the solutions Certiport provides to the rapidly growing workforce and academic markets. Adding this foundational program further diversifies Certiport's company portfolio setting the stage for future business.
For CompTIA, joining with Certiport will not only increase product value to customers, but an increase in the global distribution, delivery and the ability to more quickly penetrate new geographies and markets will thereby accelerate potential growth.
The CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certificate program offers individuals a broad introduction to computing technology and serves as a critical stepping stone to advanced technical learning and IT skills. The exam measures an individual's knowledge of basic IT terminology and skills, such as setting up a basic PC work station, installing software, identifying compatibility issues and recognizing and preventing basic security risks.
CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals complements Certiport's Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®), providing a necessary foundation that allows users to transition perfectly to the CompTIA exam. With an estimated 26 million students interested in pursuing an IT career, individuals particularly interested in hardware platforms and PCs are well suited for the certification pathway aligning individual capabilities with organizational needs and the development of a high-performance and confident workforce.
Certiport will begin delivering the CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals exam in July 2010 to a worldwide audience of test takers in multiple regions and in multiple languages allowing a broad range of students to prove their technology knowledge and skills.
