BPA Integrates Industry Certification to NLC Competitive Events

Certiport is pleased to announce its continued relationship with Business Professionals of America (BPA). BPA will continue to integrate four Certiport certification programs into select competitive events at the 2018 National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Dallas, Texas.
The added certification programs include:
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
- Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
BPA's official offering of Competitive Events at the 2018 NLC includes the following certification exams:

For each of the affected Competitive Events listed above, BPA NLC competitors will be required to take both
the standard BPA assessment and the industry certification offered by Certiport.
Important:
- The BPA standard assessment will make up 75% of the final score
- The industry certification will make up 25% of the final score
Qualifying for affected NLC Competitive Events at the regional and state levels will remain unchanged. However, competitors will now need to prepare for the MOS, MTA or IC3 certification exams that have been integrated into the NLC Competitive Events displayed in the table above.
Step 1: Register as a Certiport Testing Candidate
- Visit www.certiport.com
- Select "Register" and complete the User Registration process to setup a Certiport Testing Candidate Profile.
- CRITICAL: Within the User Registration process, students MUST identify themselves as an BPA member.
- Select "Yes" below "Are you affiliated with any national student organizations?"
- Check the box next to "BPA."
- If you already have a Certiport account, update your profile to indicate your BPA affiliation.
- Visit www.certiport.com
- Login using your Username and Password.
- Select "My Profile" at the top margin of the Certiport page.
- Select the "Profile" tab.
- Click the “Edit” button at the bottom of the page.
- Ensure "Student" is selected under Status.
- CRITICAL: Select "Yes" for "Are you affiliated with any national student organizations?"
- Check the box next to "BPA."
- Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Take Practice and Certification Exams at Your School
- Under the direction of your Advisor, take MOS, MTA, ACA, and IC3 practice and certification exams in the classroom prior to BPA 2018 NLC
- Your School Doesn’t Offer MOS, MTA, ACA, or IC3 Certification Testing?
- If your school does not offer MOS, MTA, ACA or IC3 certification exams as part of its curriculum, we encourage Advisors to learn more about how to become a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC) so they can start offering these programs to students.
- In the event your school does not offer MOS Certification exams as part of its curriculum:
- Advisers are encouraged to contact Certiport to learn about special Certification offerings to BPA Chapters.
Step 3: Advance to Compete in MOS U.S. National Championship!
- After the winners of the Advanced Word Processing and Advanced Spreadsheet Applications Competitive Events are recognized at the NLC Awards Ceremonies, each will be invited to compete at Certiport's Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championships, where they will compete with the best and brightest students from around the country in this highly competitive and publicized event.
