Using the Format Painter Button

If you like the appearance of a particular line of text within your Word document, you can use the Format Painter button on the Standard Toolbar to reproduce the desired formatting for other text within the same document. To do this, simply:

  1. First select (highlight) the text (or a portion of the text) with the desired format.
  2. Click the Format Painter button. Your cursor should now be a text-selecting paint brush.
  3. Using this tool, simply select the text you wish to be formatted with the desired style. The text will instantly assume the new formatting.
