CompTIA and Certiport have mapped a career path that begins with Certiport's Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®) and the official Microsoft Office certification programs and leads into the globally recognized CompTIA A+ Service and Support program. A+ and other industry-accepted CompTIA certifications, such as Network+, Server+ and i-Net+, in turn lead to higher-level vendor-sponsored and vendor-neutral technical certifications.
CompTIA's career guidance web tool identifies ICT job roles and the unique knowledge and skills required for these job roles and maps them all to industry certifications. Certiport IC³ serves as the foundation for achieving advanced certifications. IC³ is designated as the starting point for more than 750 ICT industry-wide certifications. CompTIA designed the TechCareer Compass as a tool to provide the ICT professional with a seamless path using globally accepted standards for computer and IT training. IC³ provides the baseline certification to ensure that individuals have a standard set of basic computer and Internet skills upon entering the pathway.
