Things to Do in Toronto

If you come early or stay after the conference, there are many things to do in Toronto during the summer. Here are just a few of your options:

Niagara Parks Commission – Niagara Falls

Niagara Tourism venues. Best view Restaurants at Table Rock, Queen Victoria Place and Queenston Heights. Falls Attractions: Niagara's Fury, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk, Whirlpool Aero Car, Butterfly Conservatory. Also Legends on the Niagara Whirlpool golf courses, People Mover buses, gardens and gift shops. Historic sites: Old Fort Erie, Mackenzie Printery & Newspaper Museum, McFarland House, Laura Secord Homestead.

Centreville Amusement Park

With over 30 rides and attractions and more than 14 food outlets, there's something for everyone at Centreville. Across the harbour by ferry (416-392-8193), the Islands are a popular spot for families with children, picnics and groups. Open daily at 10:30 A.M. June 3 – September 5 and all weekends in May and September, weather permitting. On the island.

Fantasy Fair

Ontario's largest indoor amusement park with nine full-size rides, a giant play village and a family-friendly arcade. Open 363 days a year and surrounded by over 160 stores with plenty of free parking. In the airport area.

Caribana Festival

Come take part in North America's biggest Caribbean-styled Carnival now in its 39th year! See a spectacular parade of more than 20 masquerade bands in the most competitive Carnival competition outside of Trinidad and Tobago! THIS IS GOING ON BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER PATHWAYS!

Allan Gardens Conservatory

Open daily 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Features six greenhouses comprising over 16,000 sq. ft. of colourful seasonal plants which supplement the permanent plant collection.

CN Tower

Canada's National Tower and Wonder of the Modern World offers spectacular views, spell-binding Glass Floor, motion theatre ride, arcade and fantastic shopping. Visit Horizons for casual fare or experience award-winning fine dining in 360° at The Restaurant at the CN Tower (Elevation is complimentary with entrée).

Ontario Science Centre

With hundreds of engaging interactive exhibits and daily science demonstrations, the Ontario Science Centre will delight, inform and challenge visitors of all ages: KidSpark is a unique discovery playground for children eight and under, the Weston Family Innovation Centre has 50 open-ended experiences that allow youth to create and innovate, the Space Hall is home to Toronto's only public planetarium and the Shoppers Drug Mart® OMNIMAX® Theatre features a great lineup of IMAX® films that run hourly throughout the day. The Ontario Science Centre is open daily from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M., with extended hours during the summer and holiday seasons and is closed December 25. Casa Loma

Former estate of Canadian financier Sir Henry Pellatt. Edwardian Castle is complete with decorated suites, towers, an 800-foot tunnel, and stables. Open daily for tours. Gardens open May – October.

Hillebrand Winery

Offering a unique wine country experience. Tours and tastings. Extensive winery boutique. Regional wine country cuisine at Hillebrand Estates Winery Restaurant. Facilities available for group dining, meetings and personalized tours.

Steam Whistle Brewing

Come and enjoy Toronto's own craft beer–Steam Whistle Pilsner–brewed at the historic railway roundhouse. Open daily. The on-site retail store offers unique merchandise along with fine, fresh beer. Public tours. Private parties.

African Lion Safari

Get closer than you ever imagined to over 1,000 exotic birds & animals. See a pride of majestic lions, rare cheetah, a herd of graceful giraffe, a troop of playful baboons and many more animals from around the world! Drive through in your own car or take the guided Safari Tour Bus (additional charge). Enjoy live animal shows, nature tours, Elephant Swim and Misumu Bay Wet Play (seasonal). Andrews Charter (fishing)

Specializing in corporate business salmon fishing and Toronto Island boat cruises on Lake Ontario. Available are a 52 ft. yacht that hosts up to 20 guests or a 45 ft. yacht that hosts up to 16 guests. Lots of room and lots of fun. They look after every detail – nothing but the best. Thirty-two years in business. Hosting Charter boat of the 2008 Great Ontario Salmon Derby Grand prize winner.

The Helicopter Company Inc.

Best view of the city! Fly eye-to-eye with the pod of the CN Tower, see and photograph Toronto's attractions, landmarks and waterfront by jet helicopter departing daily from the downtown heli-base located on the Island Airport.

Hockey Hall of Fame

Waves Waterpark

Niagara's first indoor waterpark facility. Featuring retractable glass roof that is a year-round attraction. With 25,000 square feet of water fun including wave pool, activity pool, slides, dumping bucket, and arcade area. An outdoor recreational area includes basketball, volleyball, picnic BBQ area, and outdoor sunbathing area. They also offer a two-tiered eating area inside with seating for 140 people.

Mysteriously Yours...Dinner Theatre

Interactive murder mysteries. Come and join the fun at our fabulous dinner theatre. Be suprised by an incredible three-course, gourmet dinner, and participate in the solving of a hilarious whodunit. A new show every few months. Reservations required.

Second City Comedy

The Second City performs topical comedy sketch-theatre satirizing aspects of everyday life. Enjoy a performance from the company that inspired SCTV, Saturday Night Live and Who's Line Is It Anyway!
