Over 200 partners, honored guests, students, the Global Digital Literacy Council, the Four Worlds International Institute, and distinguished inductees into the Champions of Digital Literacy Hall of Fame gathered for a three-day exchange of ideas and best practices in Kona, Hawai'i for PATHWAYS 2008.
As its theme "Milestones in Empowerment" suggests, PATHWAYS 2008 offered a breathtaking venue where many positive and incredible events took place, including:
- The continued collaboration and communication between global partners dedicated to distributing the empowerment of digital literacy tools and training throughout the world;
- The signing and ratification of the new global standard for digital literacy;
- The initiation of communications around the connections between digital literacy and economic development for the world’s 360 million indigenous peoples;
- The crowning of world champions in the 2008 Certiport Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office;
- Acknowledgement of the winners of the IC³ World Cup Pathway and Exam competitions; and,
- The Gala celebration of the fantastic achievements that define the past and build a bridge to the sunlit horizon of the bright future ahead.
